Here at this exclusive couple's only resort we offer ultra-luxury.  Many accommodations are a masterpiece and all of them go far and beyond what is expected compared to in a resort, an inn or a hotel room. We call ourselves 5 Star Ultra-Luxury Couples Resort as all of our 48 accommodations exceed 5 Star / 5 Diamond Ratings in-room size, amenities and facilities.  This level of amenities and facilities you will find only at ultra-luxury properties: 10 saunas, 27 walk-in steam rooms, 21 walk-in euro-showers, 23 outdoor hot tubs, All king size beds and All in-room Jacuzzi tubs each in front of a wood burning fireplace and All private balconies each with 2 padded chaise lounges and All upscale furnishings (and coming soon 150 mb of free data services, an average of 3 mb / accommodation)

Natural Algonquin Park is our backyard and ideal for everyone.  Unlimited opportunities for finding wildlife on well-marked trails that are designed for the novice to the expert.  You can quietly disappear into Algonquin on its serene trails and into its uninhabited coves.  Hell bent on Adventure then you can use Algonquin as a launch pad for endless sport activities from mountain biking to cross country skiing, from kayaking to snowshoeing, from horseback to dogsled, from running to skating.

Ontario's Couples Resort is situated at the End of (139) Galeairy Lake Road on the shores of Galeairy Lake and the Madawaska River.  The village of Whitney is a short 15-minute walk away.  We are surrounded with breathtaking wilderness, pure fresh air, secluded forests, pristine waters, and an abundance of sunny days and a blanket of stars at night. This priceless peace and tantalizing tranquility is all yours for the taking.

"Thank you for your interest in our Couples Resort.  Here you will find the time to spend quality time together, and this is why we exist, to be here, so that you can spend lots of time together, alone, away from all the distractions of life.   We started in 1967 to take care of guests, in 1989 we moved to couples only as we knew that many couples were time poor in time together.  Strangely in 2006, Canada Select which was rating 4000 accommodation properties in Canada, decided we should join them because we were easily in the top 1%, a 5 Star, then just as strangely in 2013 they decided not to list or rate any Ontario properties.  Back to why we are here; so now, many times of the year, we offer rates up to 70% off, as we wish to be accessible to as many couples as possible, as all couples should benefit from alone time together.  Today we are pretty good at being out of your way so that you can fully be with each other.  If you know other couples who need time away please pass on the word."

FAQ

Q. What is COUPLES RESORT's SEMI-FORMAL  dress code for the Dining room at Evening Dinner Time?

COUPLES RESORT SEMI-FORMAL**
Please note that our dining room is 1st Class and Elegant and guests MUST dress up at Night.
Most guests are celebrating a "special night" be it birthday, anniversary, honeymoon, milestone etc.
Remember it is 100% just about the 2 of you!

**PROPER EVENING ATTIRE:
COUPLES RESORT SEMI-FORMAL to COCKTAIL PARTY ATTIRE
MEN a Tie, Collared Dress Shirt, long or short, Proper Dress Pants, Dress Shoes,  is a minimum.
A Jacket is Optional.  In the winter a dress sweater can work instead of a jacket.
WOMEN; Proper CockTail Party dress(es) attire is required as a minimum.

FORBIDDEN at EVENING DINNER:
Talking on Phones.
Wearing Golf Shirts, Non-dress pants including Jeans and Khakis, Shorts, Sandals, Flip Flops and Running Shoes.
One may have Room Service if one does not want to meet the Couples Resort Semi-Formal** Standards (Standards which have been set by a sample of 1000 Guests of the Resort in 2012.  Standards definitely not because we are stuffy, but because everyone loves to dress up.  Remember we are all down to earth here (the benefit of being here at Algonquin).).

"For many men and women, a dress code is something to be embraced. At its core, a dress code sets a mood and a tone; it makes an evening special. It ensures that all of the effort that you put into how you look--the money, the time, the thought, the energy--is rewarded by the explicit acknowledgement of the restaurant that you are "worthy" of your meal by respecting the efforts put in by the owners and the staff. The lavish ornamentation that makes a restaurant sparkle translates to people too; the glitzy jewelry on your neighbor's wrist might do battle with the crystal stem ware  for your attention. The glamour of fine dining, the polish of the silverware, the fizz of the champagne, is heightened--so the theory goes--by what people are wearing. And this, at least at the fanciest restaurants, is the status quo."

Lunch and Breakfast is casual dress, wear what you like.

Please observe a NO EXTRA TIPPING policy, as we wish that you would rather indulge in another Spa appointment, participate in one more sport activity, have another delicious bottle of wine or spoil oneself with extending the stay another night…..any of these will help all of the Resorts working team, far more than tipping. This Policy insures that we can provide better quality service throughout and also allows us to pay the 15% Service Charge collected as boosted salaries and bonuses to all our Team.

Q. How is the 15% Service Charge Implemented?

The Service Charge is 100% transferred to the staff team, but not shared equally, with a higher distribution to those that are the most difficult to find and retain. It is transferred to the staff in higher wages than minimum wage. Many Staff are in a position to make considerably more than minimum wage such as evening dining room staff, kitchen staff, Spa staff and staff that do special services. Other staff who live on site (it pays for their accommodation and food). Some employees make just a little more than minimum wage and this money goes to that difference as well. Managers would be paid higher from these Charges. Service Charges go out to cover Coffee and Beverages to consume while working, having a reduced priced meal while working here or paying a reduced rate while dining here. ALSO Uniforms, Shoes, Boots, Winter coats, Turkeys & Christmas Gift Cards. Service Charges are paid out bi-weekly as bonuses to cleaners if they perform and quarterly to all non-live in staff if the Resort does well. Everyone has the opportunity to apply for better paying jobs.

Q. Where are the moose?

Algonquin Park has thousands of moose. The best chance of spotting a moose is along the highway 60 corridor running through Algonquin. The moose are not generally afraid of tourists, and will continue to eat along side the road. (DO NOT APPROACH A MOOSE!) Moose are most frequent through May and June when road salt from the winters roads wash into the neighbouring ditches. Moose consider salt to be a treat, especially when mixed with their greens. In the foliage months, taking a very early hike on the Mizzy Lake Trail also can be rewarding. Moose become rare to see in the winter months.

Q. Why Thermal salt-water pool and Hot Tub?

Purely for enjoyment; we want everyone to use it. The Thermal Pool and Hot Tub use the Sun to heat it and they both use an electro-plate to break basic table salt into the compounds used to kill bacteria, similar to chlorine, without any of the side effects. There is no smell, it tastes a little salty and is more like a saline solution, so you can open your eyes under water and it will not irritate them. There is no chemical reaction to the skin, hair or swimsuits. You will actually feel smoother after your shower.
